The Amarillo Venom has signed former Wake Forest standout Kevin Patterson, the team announced Thursday.
Patterson, 23 (04/09/1986), was a four-year starter for Wake Forest who went undrafted in the 2009 NFL Entry Draft before being signed to a free agent contract by the Jacksonville Jaguars.
“Kevin showed in college he’s a versatile player and I know those skills will translate well in the indoor game,” echoed Venom Head Coach Jon Lyles. “He should be an integral part of defense in 2010.”
The Kingsland, Georgia native played a pivotal roll in Wake Forest’s turnover department the last several seasons as free and strong safety as well as cornerback. Patterson helped Wake lead the Football Bowl Subdivision with 37 takeaways in 2008 and 72 over the past two seasons). Four of Patterson’s career seven interceptions came during his senior year (2008) where he returned half of those turnovers for touchdowns. |
