The Amarillo Venom bolstered their rushing attack Thursday, announcing the signing of former Mountain West Conference Offensive Player of the Year Dontrell Moore and NFL Europe running back Sha-ron Edwards. Moore, a running back who has been a part of three NFL camps with the New York Jets, Tennessee Titans and Tampa Bay Buccaneers, was a semifinalist for the Doak Walker Award in 2005 at New Mexico and holds several school and conference rushing records. Edwards, from Colgate State, attended camp with the Atlanta Falcons in 2007 and led the Frankfurt Galaxy in rushing in 2007. "Dontrell is an electric back who has proven to be a consistent runner with exceptional college credentials, while Sha-ron has the agility of a smaller running back," Venom head coach Jon Lyles said. "Having two dynamic running backs complimenting each other is paramount to our offense thriving this season." The Venom will be part of the Indoor Football League this season, which begins play Feb. 26. |
